ABOUT ABOUT

The CS Problem Solver is a competition that is based on quick thinking, teamwork, scientific research and climate education.
Teams of 2 are given challenging fictional or real-life problems that are either politically challenging or scientifically complex. All teams must solve the problem and propose a solution in a limited amount of time.

The International PS requires applicants to submit a solution to a problem. Applicants will then be contacted in order to find out if they will go on to be finalists at the event during one of the time slots listed. The problem is found below:

In recent decades, regions of South America have experienced severe, prolonged heat waves. Climate models project an increase in the frequency of these events resulting in increased human health risks as well as pressure on energy and water infrastructure. Urban areas are more stressed and vulnerable to heatwaves. The most effective way to combat this is by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. However, adaptation is critical to prepare for future heatwaves and protect human health. In order to adapt to and prepare for future heat waves, please develop a plan to develop infrastructure across urban areas in South America.

*Participants will only need to compete in one time slot - please note that times are in GMT*
*Deadline to apply is November 18*
